the internet and society

The internet has been linked with several moral panics in society for example the suicide packs that were widely reported last year and the focusing of utopian ideals such as the introduction of avatars that can be designed to present people’s desired appearance, weight etc. The raise of paedophiles in the internet has also contributed to giving internet a bad name, when such things take place people tend to focus on the negative side of the internet and disregard all the positives it has brought to society. Never before has obtaining information, buying products or correspondence learning been easier. With facilities that cater for all age groups the internet has proved to be quite a huge phenomenon. But with this it is making society lazy, which every thing at the click of a mouse, people have lost that drive to research certain things any other way other than the internet. With this some in society are seeing this as a way of conning people with identity theft on the raise the internet has become a profitable business for hackers.

  1. Hey Sunny =)

I found your post really interesting and quite different to the ones I have read by other people. I like the way that in this post you have focused on the negative aspects of the internet, because in todays age, especially thinking about our age group, people often disregard the bad points,

Don't get me wrong, I love the internet and don't think I could live without it! But it's true, the internet has just made everyone lazy. The internet is the easy option. The idea of just typing your research into a search engine and clicking a few buttons is so much more convinient to most people that spending time looking through books. Although I am guilty of using the internet for research, I think it does undermine other forms.
