In socioeconomic society the digital divide could have negative effect digital natives with all the skills they need to access WebPages and downloadable files will not be affected but the immigrants might be. As we can see the government is now trying to push more people to use the internet and interactive television as their main source of information. Prensky speaks of the natives speaking in a digital language that new information should be present those outside the native society will be at a disadvantage because they might not fully understand what information is being put forward.
On a global scale the majority of the world still do not have access to computers and the internet and if global decision are being made without the majority knowing what is being agreed upon this could cause serious revolts in society or exclusions of certain groups.

Do you think we will ever reach a time when the majority of the world DO own computers, or at least have access to one? What would change if this happened?
ReplyDeletewell with the levels of global poverty i dont think it is likely to happen in our life time.however if it was to happen i guess that would mean that everyone will be living in a developed world and i guess everyone will be living in the digital native world therefore there will no longer be a didgital divide ....
ReplyDeleteI don't think we will ever be at the point when everyone in the world has access to a computer. Like Sunny said, not in our life time anyway.
