Postmodern views which stress the fluidity of online selves is very true race or class are not required online one can express them but the majority of people chose not to. I think online personas create an online world whereby the physical and material have no effect on online relationships everyone is equal, it is more of a utopian world.

  1. But is this 'fluid'? I think I agree with others in the seminar group who say that (e.g.) World of Warcraft might encourage you to be a fictional character, which changes a lot. But SNS doesn't does it? And as SNS start to dominate people's non-work online experience, won't it make the norm of online involvement (forums, wikis etc) to be 'yourself' like on SNS?
